We are currently recruiting for a PMO Scheduling Specialist Advanced based in our Victoria, BC office. This is a full-time permanent position (37.5 hours per week) and will report to the Director Submarine Projects.

The principal tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Prepare and maintain schedules for activities and events, taking account of discrepancies and resource requirements, including provision of risk analysis on schedules

  • Apply schedule management independently, primarily in complex situations across Project, Program & Portfolio (P3M)

  • Manage and lead the Scheduling Team

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the Projects structures (Work Breakdown Structure / Organization Breakdown Structure / Resource Breakdown Structure / Cost Breakdown Structure) consistent with project targets and objectives and consistent with commitments to the customer

  • Develop, baseline, and maintain the Project integrated schedule (Leve 1-3) such that resources can be committed efficiently and effectively

  • Ensure alignment between the integrated scheduling toolset and the company’s financial and material demand toolset, including alignment of any Level 4/5 schedules

  • Support the Cost team with managing the Earned Value Management (EVM) process and procedure while providing Management with comprehensive detailed reports

  • Produce regular status updates of the integrated schedule and provide metrics (i.e. critical path/total float) and schedule analysis of the impact to the project

  • Produce resource and cost loaded schedules and provide the financial status of the project to inform the Integrated Business Planning (IBP)

  • Produce and circulate schedule risk analysis updates monthly, including key milestones and status against targets and objectives and inform the baseline including Time Risk analysis, currently through Mote Carlo simulation

  • Carry out critical path analysis of the integrated schedule on a regular basis and circulate management information to inform project resources

  • Ensure suitable communications are established to convey project data and information to all members of the Project Team in a timely manner that will support the decision making process

  • Oversee the Health & Safety of all direct reports

  • Other duties as necessary
Candidate Profile:

At this level our ideal candidate is:

  • An expert in preparing and maintaining schedules of project and/or programme activities and events (taking account of dependencies and resource requirements)

  • Proficient in gathering independent evidence to confirm that the information from projects and/or programmes is valid and will achieve their aims

  • An expert with knowledge of scheduling toolsets and methodologies, schedule management, resource management, consolidated planning in complex situations, expert application of establishing critical paths and the monitoring of these in complex situations

  • Proficient knowledge of timescale risk analysis techniques, proficient knowledge of contract management, and competent in project management techniques

    Job qualifications and requirements include:


  • Experience leading and managing personnel under direct supervision with proven ability to provide leadership, knowledge and training to personnel

  • Experience effectively adapting to a changing business

  • In depth experience in Microsoft Project and Primavera P6

  • Working knowledge of Crystal Reports, Qlikview and Primavera Risk Analysis

  • Ability to communicate proficiently at all levels

  • Professional Qualification [Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), Association of Project Management (APM) / Association of Cost Engineers (Acoste) / Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS)] or equivalent

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience applying project controls

  • Eligible for a Canadian Secret Security, Controlled Goods and ITAR Clearance
