Project description
Airbus UpNext has the ambition to deliver a disruptive and innovative project to
demonstrate the potential of a sustainable power generation source used onboard the aircraft. This demonstrator will have a crucial role in determining the potential of hydrogen as an energy source in aviation.



This position is within the Airbus UpNext subsidiary in Spain.



Missions
The demonstrator will integrate complex systems together with new operational constraints. As a consequence we need to adapt an existing aircraft platform for the technology demonstration.
The role of the Airframe Lead Stress Engineer will be to lead the structural analysis and verification to support the airframe design and integration of the flying platform for the novel system installation. This includes both the new systems and the aircraft structure.



Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:



  • Leading the structural verification to integrate new systems in the demonstrator, including structure and system installation sizing

  • Leading and analyzing the demonstrator' Static and Fatigue & Damage Tolerance stress using both Airbus methods and new tools

  • Providing structural inputs to enable creative innovative designs of complex systems and their integration in an aircraft

  • Ensuring platform structural integrity according to safety regulations

  • Proposing the trade off analysis for different design solutions and concepts

  • Authoring and approval of stress reports and verification documents

  • Developing the structural test definition, support and assessment of results



The responsibilities and the technical scope of the job might evolve according to the agile working environment of the project, hence being flexible is important. Initial job responsibilities are envisaged to change significantly throughout the project, even stretching completely outside the area of expertise of the candidate.

Boarding pass:




  • At least 5 years? experience in structural analysis

  • Expertise in stress tools and analysis techniques (FEM and SW packages

  • Solid knowledge in standard stress methods (e.g. HSB, Bruhn, ESDU etc.)

  • Knowledge in qualification and certification of aircraft structures

  • Expertise in metallic and composite materials and their structural behavior

  • Familiarly with management of technical resources

  • Keen to take initiatives to propose simpler and efficient ways of workin

  • Ready to step out of your comfort zone

  • Autonomy, Adaptability, Availability, Accountability

  • Team-Player mindset

  • Hands-on and solution oriented attitude

  • Passion about technology, science

  • Values of transparency, courage, humility, empathy

  • English is mandatory

  • Willingness to have fun.
