Airbus UpNext has the ambition to deliver a disruptive and innovative project to
demonstrate the potential of a sustainable power generation source used onboard the aircraft. This demonstrator will have a crucial role in determining the potential of hydrogen as an energy source in aviation.
This position is within the Airbus UpNext subsidiary in Spain.
Missions
The demonstrator will integrate complex systems together with new operational constraints. As a consequence we need to adapt an existing aircraft platform for the technology demonstration.
As a Airframe Stress Engineer (m/f), you will contribute to the design,
integration and structural verification of the flying platform for the novel system
installation. This includes both the new systems and the aircraft structure.
Your main tasks and responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the structural verification to integrate new systems in the demonstrator, including structure and system installation sizing
- Analyzing demonstrator Static, Fatigue & Damage Tolerance stress using both Airbus methods and new tools
- Providing structural inputs to enable creative innovative designs of complex systems and their integration in an aircraft
- Contributing to the platform's structural integrity according to safety regulations
- Supporting trade off analysis for different design solutions and concepts
- Authoring of stress reports and verification documents
- Contributing the structural test definition, test support and assessment of results
The responsibilities and the technical scope of the job might evolve according to the agile working environment of the project, hence being flexible is important. Initial job responsibilities are envisaged to change significantly throughout the project, even stretching completely outside the area of expertise of the candidate.
This job requires an awareness of any potential compliance risks, including Export Control, and a commitment to act with integrity, as the foundation for the Company?s success, reputation and sustainable growth.
Boarding pass:
- At least 3 years? experience in structural analysis
- Expertise in stress tools and analysis techniques (FEM and SW packages)
- Solid knowledge in standard stress methods (e.g. HSB, Bruhn, ESDU etc.)
- Experience with metallic and composite materials and their structural behavior
- Familiarly with management of technical resources
- Able to take initiatives to propose simpler and efficient ways of working
- Autonomy, Adaptability, Availability, Accountability
- Enjoying working in an international, diverse and geographically located team
- Sharing the values of transparency, courage, humility, empathy
- Eager to step out of the comfort zone
- English is mandatory
- Willing to have fun
